Works, an architecture exhibition in Cape Town

dhk will be holding an exhibition at The Architect gallery space at the Cape Institute for Architecture during August.

The exhibition will show past, present and future work using photography, architectural drawings, hand sketches, scale models and 3D visualizations documenting the evolution of dhk through the years and revealing the process and art of architecture.

The exhibition will open to the public for First Thursdays on 4 August and will run until Thursday 25 August 2016.

Future Cape Town along with partners dhk, Urban-Think Tank and DesignSpaceAfrica is hosting a forum on housing with an array of panelists and presenters to investigate possibilities of moving South Africa forward in terms of affordable housing solutions by bridging the gap between the private sector and government. BAT to occupy Amsterdam House at V&A

Amsterdam House, the first phase of the new mixed use Canal District at the V&A Waterfront was announced today. The multi-national British American Tobacco South Africa will occupy the south wing of the building in the new district and completion is expected in November 2016.

New home for Absa at Bridge Park

Absa Bank is set to consolidate its 14 offices in the Western Cape to the new Bridge Park buildings in Century City, Cape Town.

Absa has signed a 10-year lease for 14,000m2 of offices in the newly completed Bridge Park office development, in what is believed to be the largest letting deal seen in Cape Town for at least five years. The buildings were developed in a joint venture between Rabie Property Group and Growthpoint Properties at a cost of R450m.

dhk appoints two new directors and grows leadership team

Guy Briggs and Pierre Swanepoel join dhk board of directors

dhk is delighted to announce the appointment of two new directors, Guy Briggs and Pierre Swanepoel, taking the company’s shareholding board to eight members.

Pierre joined dhk in 2008 following several years in London working for practices David Chipperfield Architects and BUJ Architects. Guy Briggs has been head of urban design at dhk since 2012, also having worked in London for EDAW and DEGW (now AECOM) as well as running his own consultancy.

The company also announced additional appointments within the leadership team as Aram Lello and Brinley Pritchard were appointed Associate Directors. Both Brinley and Aram have been with dhk since 2008 and have spent time working in the Cape Town and Johannesburg offices. In addition, head of communications Jacqui Barhouch and head of the 3D visualisation team Johann Jordaan joined the management team as associates.
