The site for this hotel lies at the very heart of the authentic seaside resort town of Swakopmund - a popular tourist destination with extensive examples of German colonial architecture. Due to its location prominence on the public seafront promenade, development is under strict scrutiny from the local Heritage Council. One of the biggest challenges posed in the design is to reflect, respect and interpret the existing vernacular.

Not falling into the trap of merely imitating the existing and thus avoiding ‘theme-style’ architecture, a functional, contemporary approach was adopted to re- interpret the existing examples creating a refined, unique and sustainable aesthetic.

Apart from its 87 luxury suites and 28 up market apartments, the hotel provides the developer and public with 610 m² promenade retail space, more than 1 000 m² of conference, business and banqueting facilities, 1 000 m² of Health & Spa facilities , and a public A-la-Carte restaurant.
