Justin has more than 10 years experience in the Architectural Profession in South Africa and a successful track record for the design and delivery of small and large scale projects. Justin joined dhk in 2006 for the UWC Life Sciences as a project director steering the development from competition stage run in collaboration with sustainability and low energy consultants, through complex environmental issues and design iterations to completion. As an Associate Justin has lead a variety of projects in the office including sustainable eco-lodges, institutional buildings, large scale mixed use urban redevelopment projects, complex heritage schemes and the first 4-star green rated tall building in South Africa. Justin is a very strong designer and project director who can conceptualize, detail and manage a large scale project from design to completion. His Associate portfolio & field of specialization is sustainability and he was instrumental in establishing dhk’s sustainability working group aimed to make sustainability core to dhk practice and reduce the negative impact urban developments have on the environment. Justin recently led the design team of the winning competition entry for the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies intended to be the iconic embodiment of sustainable architecture and development in Africa.
