Pierre Swanepoel has 17 years experience in the Architectural Profession with 12 years experience in the United Kingdom (London) and 4 years in South Africa (JHB and Cape Town). He has extensive involvement in the design and implementation of projects at a wide range of scales and complexities. These include Residential Developments, Commercial Office buildings, Hotels, Public buildings, design of public external spaces as well as Masterplanning. Prior to joining dhk Architects in November 2008, he worked for David Chipperfield Architects (London 2005-2008), a highly rated, award winning firm specialising in the design of prestigious Public and Residential projects internationally. Prior to that he worked for BUJ Architects (London 1997-2005) which specialises in high end apartment buildings and hotels adjacent to the Thames in London.
His more recent experience at dhk Architects includes the design of a prestigious mixed-use re-development of Village Walk Shopping Centre and adjacent Balalaika Hotel in Sandton including retail, office use and 2 large hotels (4 and 5 star) and a new urban park and site area of 3.6ha. Other projects include Masterplanning work in Maputo, the architectural development of a 5.5ha Masterplan in Cape Town, and a large scale mixed-use development near Pretoria.
