Eikestad Mall

Eikestad Mall was the first phase of the Eikestad Urban Renewal project which was developed in order to upgrade a central part of the historic town of Stellenbosch into a mixed-use and retail development.

Eikestad Mall is situated in the central hub of the urban renewal precinct and was redeveloped and upgraded to form a premium shopping centre. It includes street edge retail on the ground level and two levels of mall above. New shop fronts and ceilings upgrade the external and internal character of the mall. The mall also includes a new third level for food and entertainment, which crosses Beyers Street and links the existing mall with a new mixed-use development to the north (phase two). The link is expressed as a glass box which creates a subtle transparent link between the two existing buildings.

The upgraded facades of the buildings are articulated with solid elements punctuated by large openings in the mall spaces and smaller openings in the offices on the upper level.
