Lara is an Interior Design Lead with extensive experience in creating concept-driven commercial and hospitality environments that balance creativity, functionality and the human experience. She has worked on projects in South Africa, Kenya, Morocco, Rwanda and the UAE, transforming complex briefs into compelling spatial experiences and leading projects from strategy and concept development through to detailed design and delivery.
She joined dhk Interior Design's Cape Town studio as an Associate in November 2026. In her role, she collaborates with the Cape Town and Johannesburg teams to develop and present client-aligned design concepts, oversee design and construction processes and manage sites to ensure the highest standards are maintained. Her responsibilities also include business development, skills transfer, and senior-level operational and office management.
Prior to joining dhk, Lara gained valuable international exposure working in the USA early in her career. Upon returning to South Africa, she joined a design and project implementation company as a Senior Interior Designer, quickly progressing to independently leading projects for clients including PepsiCo, Rubicon Group and De Beers. More recently, as Design and Creative Lead at KOFISI, she oversaw the strategic vision and creative direction for new large-scale developments and individual client projects, including developments in Nairobi and Dubai. Building on her hands-on project and site experience, she progressed into shaping overarching design concepts for KOFISI, developing integrated design ecosystems that brought hospitality and workplace environments together. This involved presenting development visions to investors and translating them into clear creative direction and briefs for multidisciplinary teams. She led projects from concept through to delivery, ensuring design intent was consistently maintained throughout the process.
Lara is passionate about storytelling and creating meaningful, experience-driven environments that connect brand, place and people. She brings a collaborative, solution-focused approach to design leadership, with a particular interest in developing compelling design narratives that translate into cohesive spatial experiences and shape how people interact with their environments.
