Designed for Tricolt, One Rosebank is a mixed-use development located in Rosebank, one of Johannesburg's most desirable commercial, cultural and residential hubs. The project was launched just over two years ago and it's exciting to see this major development taking physical shape. We caught up with dhk Associate Henry Boardman for an update on this flagship project.
Set on a sloping site, the project has been designed to respond to the higher-rise commercial surroundings of the Rosebank CBD, with a seven-storey elevation to the south of the site. The design steps down to four storeys in response to the lower-rise single storey residential context to the north. Phase 1 of the project is complete and occupied, explains Henry: “It’s very active, with residents moving in and visitors coming and going.” This phase includes Epicure, the high-end rooftop restaurant on the sixth floor which offers diners spectacular views of Rosebank and the city beyond.
“The teams on site have topped out the first part of Phase 2, and site excavations for the remainder have begun. The landscaping is settling in the courtyard space and block three is progressing fast,” says Henry.
The apartments at One Rosebank have been designed to Tricolt’s and dhk’s typically high standards. When complete, the development will comprise 600 apartments, ranged in size from studios to two-bedroom apartments. Co-working spaces, a coffee shop with meeting rooms, gym, swimming pool, soccer pitch and basketball court provide residents with an active social environment to enjoy in their leisure time.
One Rosebank is a true collaboration between dhk and dhki’s design teams. The striking reception area has been crafted by our colleagues at dhk Interior Design (dhki) and once complete will be an impressively designed triple-volume entry atrium.
This is one of several projects that dhk has designed for Tricolt. Phase 3 of Ellipse Waterfall in Gauteng will be complete by the end of 2025. The final phase of Brookfield at Royal, located at the edge of the historic Royal Johannesburg Golf Club, is due for completion in 2026, and the soaring towers of Olympus are breaking ground soon. Two other impressive projects, currently under wraps, are also at planning stage.
